Type of organisation (legal status, main areas and type of activity)
Nyitott Kepzesek Egyesylet (NYIKE), the Association of Open Study Groups, is a national
civic organisation, non-political, non-governmental. It is a non-profit professional
organisation governed by an elected board. NYIKE organises professional and post-graduated
training in the social and cultural sector and also provides job counselling and advice on
educational matter for unemployed and disadvantaged women. NYIKE maintains contacts,
starts common programs with educational, cultural and other institutions working in adult
education field and informs them about its own activities.
Size of organisation, in terms of the total number of personnel (use full-time
equivalents)
The organisation has eight Board members, one full time paid president,
two full-time trainers, and ten volunteers. Full- and part-time employment depends
upon the number of on-going projects and varies over time. The organisation collaborates
with about twenty well-known lecturers in Hungary. The equivalent of less then one
full-time employee will be directly involved with the project.
